Creation is a wonderful place.
Thought for the Day:
Because these men will not accept the only explanation which can fit the facts of their own experience, they have become metaphysical magicians. No one has presented an idea, let alone demonstrated it to be feasible, to explain how the impersonal beginning, plus time, plus chance, can give personality. We are distracted by a flourish of endless words, and lo, personality has appeared out of the hat!
~ Francis A. Schaeffer, The God Who is There
A friend reminded me recently that I, too, am a part of God's wonderful creation. While true, I still find myself to be less interesting than the critters I observe and capture through my camera (disregarding the theological point of having been made in God's image, rendering my self-evaluation null as you, I and any person to ever walk the earth is of more value than any other created thing).

Crab Spider and Experimental Backgrounds
This afternoon, Nik convinced me to follow him around searching for bugs for him to "take photos of". He's four, and his camera is a cheap plastic toy inspired by the movie, "Cars".

Sleeping Dragon
“The philosophy now in vogue labors to shut God out of his own creation. They inform us that by some means this world and all that is therein were evolved. Even this will not long content the men of progress: they care nothing for evolution in itself, but only so far as it may serve their purpose of escaping from the thought of God. If by some method or other vain men could scheme a world without a God, they would be delighted; and that philosopher who comes nearest to the invention of a subtle lie which will justify their forgetfulness of God is the prince of the hour, the favourite of his age.”

Spiders of the Jumping Variety.
‘In its bearing upon religion this vain notion is, however, no theme for mirth, for it is not only deceptive, but it threatens to be mischievous in a high degree. There is not a hair of truth upon this dog from its head to its tail, but it rends and tears the simple ones. In all its bearing upon scriptural truth, the evolution theory is in direct opposition to it. If God’s Word be true, evolution is a lie. I will not mince the matter: this is not the time for soft speaking.’

One click, One Dragon
I love Dragonflies. Of all God's little critters, Dragons are quite high up on the list of favourites.

A Big Mixed Bag of Bugs
God writes the Gospel, not in the Bible alone, but also on trees, and in the flowers and clouds and stars. - Martin Luther.

Some bugs, and Romans 1
It's been a while since I got out and shot bugs, but recently a couple of Crab Spiders caught my eye, and I've shot a little in the last couple of days.

135mm
Lately, I've been having a bit of fun with an old 135mm f/2.8 Ai lens. It's light, it's sharp, it's 100% manual and wide open it is a royal pain in the bum to get focus exactly where you want it. Maybe I'm working too close. But I digress.
In no particular order, some shots of my three little men.

Cubby House
So, I had the day off on Thursday, and spent my day building a cubby house for the boys, which they love (although when I got home on Friday, Nik was "fixing" inside it, and when I asked him what he was doing, he responded, "Trying to build it properly, Dad."). Then, this afternoon, while Cheree and Calvin were away at a fundraiser, I took some shots of my two oldest in their brand new favourite thing.
I can't decide between colour or Black and White on these, but both boys liked the colour ones better, so I've gone with those on all but my "happy accident" (an unplanned shot that turned out to be the best of the lot).

Psalm 19
I have recently been going through photos from the vault, to try and find some that I can use with quotes from Reformed preachers/theologians for the Contender Facebook page.

Calvin Scott, Newborn Shoot Round 1
Yesterday, we decided to take a few photos of Calvin while he is still a newborn.
Calvin Scott
On Thursday, 18/04/2013, God blessed us with the birth of a healthy baby boy.
Little Calvin Scott was not so keen on coming out into the bright, shiny world, and let us know all about his grievances once he'd arrived (let's just say that w know for sure his lungs are working properly).
Weighing 10lb 2oz, and measuring 57cm in length/height, here is Calvin Scott:
